Joe Joins “Cold Storage”

Wednesday, May 11, 2022

DEADLINEEXCLUSIVE: Liam Neeson and Stranger Things’ Joe Keery are set to star in Cold Storage. Jonny Campbell (Westworld and Doctor Who) will direct the sci-fi action film from a novel by David Koepp. Koepp, whose film work includes Jurassic Park, Spider-Man and Mission: Impossible, has written the script. Zombieland and Panic Room’s Gavin Polone is producing.

The film will shoot this fall, with Studiocanal fully financing and launching worldwide sales in next week’s Cannes Market. The subject matter is timely, and its cause is about the only conspiracy theory we didn’t hear about Covid.

Several decades ago, a highly infectious, constantly mutating micro-organism — capable of extinction-level destruction — was contained in a military facility. In the present day, the military has sealed the facility’s lowest sublevel selling the remaining space to a self-storage company. As temperatures rise underground, the micro-organism finds a way to escape — and if left to spread, it will soon uncontrollably multiply around the world. The fate of humanity now rests on a retired bioterror operative and two unlikely heroes employed in the facility, who are caught in a race against time to destroy the organism and save mankind.

Koepp said the tale “has everything I’d want to see in a movie; it’s scary, funny, exhilarating, surprising, and riotously entertaining. Gavin, Jonny and I have huge ambitions for this, and are so excited to get cracking with our partners at Studiocanal. Can’t wait to launch sales at Cannes!”

Campbell called Cold Storage “classic entertainment combining epic scale and microscopic detail. I was instantly hijacked by David’s mischievously witty tone and his unique blend of comic absurdity and visionary reality. Who wouldn’t fall in love with a gut-wrenching alien parasite?”

Chief Creative Officer Studiocanal USA Shana Eddy Grouf, EVP Global Production Ron Halpern and VP International Production & Development Aaron Ensweiler are overseeing.

“Stranger Things” Season 4 Release Date

Thursday, Feb 17, 2022

On Thursday, Netflix announced that Stranger Things season 4 will be split in two parts. Volume 1 will premiere on May 27, and volume 2 will be released on July 1.

‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Will Be Split in Two Parts, Premiere Dates Set for Both

VARIETY – Netflix revealed Thursday the long-awaited fourth season of “Stranger Things” will be split into two parts — and you won’t have to wait long for them to debut.

“Stranger Things 4” Volume 1 will premiere May 27, with Volume 2 to follow on July 1, creators Matt and Ross Duffer, credited as the Duffer Brothers, said in a letter to fans posted on Netflix’s blog. That letter also included the huge news that the show has been renewed for a fifth and final season.

“With nine scripts, over 800 pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, ‘Stranger Things 4’ was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one. Everyone involved is incredibly proud of the results, and we can’t wait to share it with you,” the Duffer Brothers wrote.

They continued: “Given the unprecedented length, and to get it to you as soon as possible, Season 4 will be released in two volumes. Volume One will release on May 27; Volume Two will release five weeks later on July 1. So that’s the good news. It’s coming soon. And it’s better than ever. It’s also the beginning of the end.”

Here’s the official description for “Stranger Things 4”: “It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time — and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”

What Joe Keery is Really Thinking When You Ask For A Selfie

What ‘Stranger Things’ Star Joe Keery Is Really Thinking When You Ask For A Selfie
BUSTLEJoe Keery is me. Joe Keery is goooooaaaals. Joe Keery is the best mother to four pre-teen misfits this side of reality. If you’ve been on Tumblr in the last three months, you probably know Steve Harrington’s Stranger Things Season 2 arc has turned 25-year-old actor Joe Keery into a magnet for memeification. He’s become someone who can simply pose for a quick on-set snapchat photo with a dog and “champagne” and become synonymous with #goals or do his job well and end up with a Wikipedia page that indicates he’s a parent of four (people are just really into this Steve Harrington as surrogate mom to the Stranger Things kids, OK?). But in reality, Keery is just a dude who’s trying to figure out how to find time to create music between seasons of the Netflix smash, and who’s still puzzled as to why everyone is so obsessed with editing his face onto the cover of the Babysitter’s Club books.

“It’s wild, it’s crazy, it’s so weird,” he says, speaking to me at Bustle HQ with such genuine disbelief that you’d almost think he’d been body-swapped into the life of a celebrity. “It’s become a lifestyle?” he asks, referring to the viral dog photo (it was originally screen-grabbed from co-star Finn Wolfhard’s Snapchat). “This is just me, this is like how I am. It’s like geez, I was just doing it for fun.” But as Keery tells it, he probably should have seen this new wave of fandom coming — after all, his mom actually liked his character this season.

‘Stranger Things’ Renewed For Season 3 By Netflix

DEADLINE – Netflix has made it official, giving a third-season order to its hottest show Stranger Things.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, the 1980s nostalgia-filled horror series was an instant breakout when it debuted last year, quickly becoming a pop culture phenomenon and overnight turning Millie Bobby Brown into a star. Underscoring the show’s mega-hit status, Netflix bought time during the most watched broadcast on television, this year’s Super Bowl, to unveil the first Season 2 trailer.

Season 2 launched with a bang last month. While Netflix does not reveal viewership information, according to Nielsen, the first episode drew an eye-popping 15.8 million U.S. viewers in the first three days of release, with all nine new episodes averaging 4 million viewers over the three-day period.

Stranger Things, which won the 2017 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Chief Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Brown as Eleven, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Dacre Montgomery as Billy, and Sadie Sink as Max, among others. It is yet unclear if all will be coming back next season.

The Duffer Brothers serve as executive producers and directors along with Shawn Levy (who also directs), Dan Cohen and Iain Patterson. Stranger Things is a Netflix production, the first series owned by the streaming service to hit it big.

Stranger Things is a rare commercial and critical hit. This year, it received 18 Emmy nominations (with five wins). It also received the 2017 Norman Felton Producer of the Year Award in Episodic Television — Drama from the Producers Guild of America.
